diy eléa shampoo with black pearl extract & silk protein

eléa natural shampoo by Stella Crown
If something is missing from the blog, this is for sure a hair shampoo. I think, it was about time to make one! So, I prepared a special product SLS free and can also be used as a shower gel for your body. 2 in 1! How cool is this? It is suitable for everybody and especially for hair loss treatment. Ideal for hair repair & treatment after summer! It strengthens the hair, makes it smoothed and soft, gives a silky texture, while if you use it as a shower gel, your skin will shine literally!
My recipe is very easy, it’s perfect for beginners while the pH is already adjusted to our hair needs; what I mean by that, you’ll be wondering now! I’ ll explain immediately.

Many people pretty much ruin they hair by starting using natural shampoos, mostly handmade (usually CP soaps) because the pH of these specific soaps is too high for the hair recommendation. When the hair exhibits a pH of 5.5 to 7.0 it is natural and to react badly to the pH of a soap that has a pH ~9.0. The hair is getting dehydrated and the combing is a challenge to battle.
Friends who have used these kind of soap (CP), including me, are running into hair salons, crying to the hairdressers to bring their hair back to the former condition. For such cases I suggest some of the hair masks I have written here.
Some soap makers though, suggest the use of vinegar until the hair adjusts to the high pH. I tried it also. It doesn’t work. At least for me.

After thorough research, many experiments on my hair and help from hairdressers, I came to today's formula that is easy, quick, tested and hair-friendly, with special protagonists,
  • the black pearl extract, a component of pure luxury which comes from Tahiti and is the result of a natural process of protection established by the oyster to defend itself against the intrusion of a foreign body. We use a product derived from certified  fish farms, where the mother-of-pearl nucleus is inserted into the pearl oysters, before being re-implanted into the lagoon in nurseries for a growth period of at least three years before harvest. The resulting black pearls are cultivated and then crushed and micronized into  fine particles. The resulting powder is finally ionized to ensure an impeccable bacteriological quality. The final extract contains calcium, proteoglycan, amino acids, proteins and marine trace elements. It regenerates and revitalizes hair and skin, gives glow and simplicity, moisturizes and is the perfect ingredient in anti-aging products.
  • & the silk protein, an excellent active ingredient for our hair that moisturizes, overlaps and smooths the hair. It improves hair hydration and maintains it, makes the hair soft and silky and is suitable for hair dull, dry or dehydrated, damaged by dyes or permanent while repairing the hair breakage.

recipe for ~ 250 g | 8.8 oz

228 g | 8.0 oz liquid shampoo base SLS free
2 g | 0.07 oz black pearl extract
2 g | 0.07 oz silk protein
2 g | 0.07 oz vegetable silicone
1 g | 0.04 oz provitamin B5 (d- panthenol)
1 g | 0.04 oz phytokeratine
g | 0.07 oz natural preservative
12 drops vitamin E
12 drops vitamin F
25 drops laurel essential oil
35 drops lavender essential oil
30 drops rosemary essential oil
  • Before we start making our shampoo, we sterilise tools, containers and work surface while we don’ t forget to wear our gloves.
  • In a beaker or any container, mix all the ingredients except the shampoo base. Stir thoroughly.
  • In another container, pour the shampoo base. Add the mixture of the other ingredients, mix lightly to avoid blistering and the shampoo is ready! We store it and use the shampoo directly. So simple!
  • The vegetable silicone I used this time comes from our favourite olive tree. It locks the moisture on the hair and it is absorbed immediately.
  • Provitamin B5 is related to hair keratin, moisturizes and retains the moisture stores into the hair, keeping it smooth and gentle. It strengthens the hair shaft, making it more durable.
  • Phytokeratin is made up of soy, wheat, and corn proteins. It penetrates the hair, improves gloss, restores and maintains hair elasticity.
  • Vitamin E counteracts hair damage, repair damaged edges, improves the condition of the scalp while vitamin F improves hair quality and soothes atopic and dry skin.
  • Laurel essential oil strengthens the scalp, lavender nourishes and moisturizes the hair, while rosemary protects hair from exogenous factors. The synergy of all three essential oils combats hair loss. If you don’t have issues of hair loss, alternatively you can use essential or flavouring oils of your choice!

The liquid shampoo base SLS free which I use, contains:
Aqua, Sodium Coco-Sulphate, Cocamidropropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Citric Acid, Sodium Bezoate, Glyceryl Oleate, Coco-Glucoside, Levulinic Acid, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Phytate
